Regarding the resolution adopted by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors to oppose President Trump's decision to back out of the Paris Accord (reported in the 7/13/17 Independent County News Briefs) and, more specifically, 4th District Supervisor Peter Adam's objection to the resolution based on his position that weather forecasters don't even know if it'll rain next week, it seems clear that Supervisor Adam hasn't figured out the difference between climate and weather.
Briefly, "weather" refers to day-to-day weather changes whereas "climate" refers to the long term climate trends of the planet.
As Supervisor Adam appears to be of the mindset that denies global warming is occurring (which is the same mindset that motivated President Trump to exit the Paris Accord thereby giving the single-finger salute to the well-being of the planet), it's worth noting that 95 percent of scientists who study the earth's climate agree that global warming is, in fact, real.
In the future, Supervisor Adam would be well advised to rely more on the conclusions of the experts who study the earth's climate instead of refusing to be confused by the facts, which is the position that conservatives, in general, seem to be inclined to take.
